Curriculum Targets

Hitting the Mark

It is unbelievable that with all of the technological advances and resources available in many of our schools, we still have children in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades that have difficulty reading or identifying parts of speech. By recognizing these deficiencies and proactively addressing each child’s need, we have seen dramatic changes in the grades and abilities for many youth in underserved communities.

The RGOH curriculum focuses on literacy and mathematics by using free educational programs, resources, software, and hands-on interactive activities to improve outcomes in the areas of phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, number sense, spatial sense, estimation, measurement, problem solving, fractions, decimals, percents, and modeling. This approach addresses different learning styles in youth and helps to build confidence in literacy and mathematics skills as we empower youth to suceed.
